North Cray is a classic medieval hall house and an inspirational setting for drama and story telling activities.  lt often features in our themed days when we are focusing on Chaucer and Shakespeare. It provides an ideal space for innovative work.

Suggested Topics

This is an atmospheric building for drama.  Write a play script using the established conventions.  Set it in Chaucerian or Shakespearian times.  Consider the language used and your audience.  What is the purpose of the play?  Is there a message in it?  Prior to this, get the children to write part of a scene and then act it out.  Use a ‘freeze frame’ technique to ascertain what the characters are thinking at that particular point (This is a good Speaking and Listening strategy and helps in the drafting of the final play script).
